This atlas provides only the broadest overview of the road system. It could be useful for general planning, or following along as a passenger with an experienced (e.g., a local, hired) driver, or if you're chiefly relying on a local GPS that you might rent with a rental car, or if you just like maps and browsing at the relative position and placement of locations you're thinking of visiting, but it does not provide sufficient detail to navigate, for example, one's way from Jerash to Umm Qais or from Amman to Machaerus (which is mislocated in relation to its neighboring village of Mukawir -- according to Google satellite/maps). I would advise rather preparing one's own atlas on the basis of Google satellite (and "satellite" is better than just the "map" view, at least for me, since it helps to see some landmarks and terrain changes), even though time-consuming, rather than purchasing this general "atlas" and thinking it will actually do the job once one is behind the wheel in Lebanon or Jordan (obviously these days I don't have to add "Syria," most unfortunately).
Lonely Planet produces well researched travel guide with maps of Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. Because of war conditions in Syria, better to plan for a later trip.
It'sa lovely atlas. It's just a pity I thought it was a travel guide. I'll have to do this transaction again. I'll keep the atlas though. It might just come in handy. And will teach me to pay more attention to what I'm doing next time.
