I liked it for the accounts of the action, but I would have liked to have a little more context leading into each attempt to defend or attack a position. An overall map of the area would have been helpful either in appendix or somewhere - the hand drawn maps did not provide enough info for me to follow well.There were good points and the research was thoroughly done on the personal accounts. I did like that some of the same action was referenced by multiple people with different perspectives.I watched Band of Brothers after reading this and it was good to piece the events and people together with the events detailed in this book.

This is a concise and "first-hand" account of what our armed services had to deal with in what many consider to be the battles that were the turning point in the victory for the allies in WW2. One of the most interesting facets of this book is the "actual" first-hand" descriptions of war provided in letters, diaries and stories related to the author through the actual soldiers or their families. Of interest are personal accounts from some of the Easy company soldiers that were in the middle of the fracas (you will remember Dick Winters and some of the personnel from the Band of Brothers HBO movies).

Such a mesmerizing read. There is nothing like reading first hand narratives of crazy experiences and you don't get more crazy than what these brave soldiers experienced.My heart breaks for some of these men as they never made it home and jumps for joy with a little smile for those who escaped death by a whisker and a sense of humor.I am proud to be the niece of one of these men, the greatest generation!

This is the third in a trilogy detailing the 101st Airborne action in the European theater. Hundreds of personal accounts are woven together to provide an excellent day-by-day (sometimes hour-by-hour) description of events during the last major German offensive of WWII in Dec 44-Jan 45, more commonly referred to as the Battle of the Bulge. The arrangement of chapters in chronological order with associated maps provided a clear picture of the events as they unfolded. This wasn't always the case in the author's previous book related to the Market Garden campaign in the fall of '44. Don't be fooled by the title into thinking this is focused solely on the 101st Airborne. Other armor, artillery, and aviation units that participated are represented in the story as well.

George Koskimaki was my 10th grade Honors Biology teacher way back in 1963 at Roseville High School He was, and apparently still is, a master story teller and always had the ability to capture the attention of his audience I was once again transported to the 101st Airborne's fields of action . I have often thought of whether he was able to follow his dream of recording this important piece of history so none of us ever forget. And Mr. Koskimaki, I never did.

Fascinating reading from those who were there, from letters and remembrances. Can't comprehend being out in the winter like they were and often ill prepared. Our guys faced two enemies trying to kill them, winter and the Third Reich.

From the perspective of the GIs on the frontlines, you agonize and feel relief as you are there with them. Brave men in a desperate and constant battle, a tribute to the American soldiers.

Very good read. Being a baby boomer my Dad and most of my friends dads were all vets. They never talked of the things they witnessed. Most had tons of pictures hidden and never looked at, along with souvenirs they had sent or brought home Being boys we'd find them and show them to each other.This book fills in pieces of history a lot of my generation never got to hear from our fathers.

This book is a MUST READ in the truest form of the phrase - brilliant, thought-provoking, useful, and able to be applied to work, movements, business, as well as everyday life. Also one of the only books . It provides such tangible case studies and applications of the ideas being discussed that really make it real and digestible.It explains the things happening in the world around us - shifts in business models, movements, activism, - but it explains it with real world case studies, like the ice bucket challenge, Airbnb, #GivingTuesday, and not just in theory. Could not recommend this book more highly, I couldn't read it fast enough. I hope they put this book in the curriculum at colleges!

New Power lays it all out for you. It is the primer you need to understand how to navigate changing the world we see around us. The way movements are built has changed and this book does a great job of explaining how.

I really wanted to like the book. The concept is interesting and explains very well the structure of many new organizations and movements. My problem lies in the writers. Maybe not both, but at least one of them leaves his political bias so exposed, it feels like I'm reading a manifesto at some points. I get it, movements that you support also use New Power structures and you like that. I'd be fine with reading a positive position of those movements if you didn't also have a blatant negative bias against anything that even slightly goes against what you support. There are times when showing a negative bias is good, like when describing organizations like ISIS. But when you make your reader feel insulted for believing in different politics than you, you've written your book wrong.

New Power does a phenomenal job at taking what could be an esoteric concept (the new participatory culture we live in) and making it practical for leaders.The authors both have immense success in building next generation communities and that experience shows. They provides actual frameworks and methods for leveraging New Power.The book is well-written and fun to read. Would recommend for both entrepreneurs and established executives.

This one's a page-turner – books that try to explain broader dynamics like this one often get stuck in abstractions, but the authors' case studies are fascinating and really bring the concept to life. A quick read. Can definitely see this being applicable in lots of different ways. No question that new power is a growing presence in the era of Trumps and Brexits and Marching For Our Lives – extremely useful framework to help explain how we've gotten here. Highly recommend!

I heard the authors interviewed and I was captivated by the concept. "New Power" did not disappoint. It crystalized the current state of "social" affairs while reviewing and analyzing how things used to run. It was a fluid read packed with all of the "social" tools one would need to market a new product or idea. I should know. I picked it up to learn how to market a new fiction character I've created and it has turned out to be my bible. My skills have improved three fold and when my character becomes a sensation, the credit will go directly to Jeremy Heimans and Henry TImms. I also love that Mr. Heimans dedicates his life to "Purpose." It doesn't get any better than that.So if you are motivated to move forward with your new idea, new product or new message, "New Power" is for you. Grab it today. You'll be more than happy you did.

I don't normally write reviews, but I wanted to go out of my way for this book. A few signs of a good book - 1) you blink and 20 pages have gone by 2) you don't want to stop even if your daily reading time has run out 3) you remember bits and pieces 4) you go online to learn more about things mentioned in the text 5) you are sad to see it end. This book was all of these for me. If you are trying to work in the new world of work - which all of us are - this is a great handbook. The triangle framework was a great way to look at building a strong network of users and super users. The comparison of old power vs. new power was very helpful. i would recommend this book to anyone trying to understand how to grow a community, leverage social media, or to better understand how grassroots movements like #metoo succeeded and Pepsi didn't. Kudos to Jeremy and Henry for a great book. If you like Malcolm Gladwell, Dan Pink, Steven Pinker, etc - you will like this book.

I assumed this book would lean a certain way politically because most products are forced to do so for fear of constant boycotts but this was VERY balanced in that regard. Advertising leaned one way but that is a must in today's market. I have been waiting for a book like this to explain how these movements are created and keep moving. Covers all major movements. Has a lot of new terms so I really liked the glossary in the back for quick reference. Loved this book and I can't wait to hear from these authors again.

so many readers.I was skeptical about reviews, and thought that there might not be enough new information for another book. I was pleased with the amount of additional information and solution of remaining questions about the Sharon case.One of the most incredible cases that I've ever heard of.I was surprised by the additional information about Sharon's mother. She may not have been the victim she appeared to be. She was a drug- using prostitute with three small children by three different fathers (in the 1970's) when she met Floyd and quickly married him.It doesn't appear that she filed a missing persons report when Floyd disappeared with Sharon.More people who knew Sharon while she lived with Floyd were found and interviewed, disclosing more about her life and the abuse from Floyd. Some people noticed the strange relationship between Sharon and Floyd and suspected incest.We find out that Sharon had three children, one who was found and interviewed. Her biological father was found. He thought his ex-wife was remarrying and the new husband was adopting the children.Details of the FBI interviews a few years ago with Floyd are fascinating. What a malignant force Floyd is.Unfortunately, Floyd's death sentence cannot be carried out due to a technicality. After years of appeals, a part of the evidence was lost, allowing Floyd to legally claim that he cannot effectively appeal further without all of the evidence.

Please read A Beautiful Child and then read Finding Sharon. Both books are stirring and reveal the story of a child kidnapped and abused by a pedophile. She touched the lives of many people who admired her ability to function at a high level despite her horrible home life. She was very bright and a model ROTC officer who earned a full scholarship to study aerospace engineering. Her captor denied her this opportunity. He dragged her down, kept her pregnant, and sold her babies.

Matt Birbeck, the author wrote another excellent book! Matt along with law enforcement, FBI, other agencies, family, friends, and readers put a lot of heart and soul in finding the true identity of Sharon Marshall. The circumstances surrounding Suzanne's life are very sad. Suzanne's father, uncle, and sister Allison all knew her before the kidnapping. My heart especially goes out to them. Thank you Matt Birkbeck for your hard work and beautiful writing!

When news of her identity broke I scrambled to learn of her kidnapping as a young child. Initial and even recent reports suggested her mother was a helpless victim. It made my stomach turn learning that her mother probably did not report her disappearance and may have even been complicit in it. I only have sympathy for her sister, aunt, uncle, father and grandfather whom appear to be the only ones who cared for her prior to her kidnapping. I was mesmerized by this book just as I was by A Beautiful Child. Good job Matt Birkbeck for getting the truth of Suzanne out there for the world to see.

This book is amazing. He completed the story with each chapter. Questions that were being asked had finally been answered. I Love the way Matt created each chapter to cover each part of this complicated story. The respect in which this book was written was wonderful. Thanks Matt. Love Ya

It is amazing how the original, A Beautiful Child, brought about so many positive responses and follow-up dialogue to this story. This book continues the story shared in A Beautiful Child, sharing with all of us memories as well as the final conclusion of families all brought together. The author has really done an amazing job. I appreciated reading this book.
