Adorable book for grandparents. You can't go wrong with little critter

We love love love little critter! I enjoyed these from my own childhood and this was a new one to me! My kids absolutely love dinosaurs and dinosaur bones so we were really excited to find this title offered. This arrived very quickly and in perfect condition, no blemishes or tears to the pages. In the story, little critter attends a field trip to the museum and all he wants to see are the dinosaur bones, just like my own kids would want to do, except the dinosaur exhibit is closed because a dinosaur bone is missing! It is fun for the kids to go on a literary tour through the meseum with their favorite little critter and find out if he will help find the dinosaur bone and get to see the dinosaur bone exhibit after all! (Spoiler alert! He does, of course!) I really loved the fact the spider and cricket are still hiding on every page, waiting for the kids to find, just as it was when I was younger and enjoying my own little critter books. It was a trip down memory lane to be able to read these to my kids and I am so happy they love little critter as much as I did! It is even exciting for me to find new titles that interest my kids as well! This book was a little difficult for my emergent reader and she needed some help, but she still enjoyed both listening to and practicing her reading skills with this book. My older son, who is a higher level reader, really enjoyed reading this book out loud as well as being read too. It was not overly difficult or challenging but it still kept him engaged. He loves to read this to his younger siblings because we all love little critter and all things dinosaur and dinosaur bones! This is another great title in the little critter series and I am happy to add this in to my collection!

My daughter started out reading these books 13 years ago and now I have a son. I can tell you that having these books on hand helped her reach her AR reading goal every month in school. She could take the test on the book in 1st grade and really get points and awards in class which boosted her self esteem. We love the art of the newer critter books a bit better than the older ones but the stories are perfect. This time around I plan on getting lots of these books for my son because early reading is so essential!

In this book, Little Critter is visiting the museum on a class field trip, and is excited to see the dinosaur exhibit; however, the exhibit is closed because a dinosaur bone is missing. Little Critter then searches the museum for the missing bone, getting into some mischief along the way. Our 3 year old son loves dinosaurs, and even though this book doesn't focus on dinosaurs as much as I thought it would, he still loves this book. He's wanted to read it at least ten times this week alone. And he likes to sit quietly and look at the book by himself too, flipping through the pages and studying each one. It's a great addition to our Little Critter collection, and our son's current favorite.

Mercer Mayer always delivers great stories to listen to and to read as a child, and have read to your child. My son loves both of his grandparents and this book helps him to get both of them to read to him at the same time. Reading their individual parts here and there.Great books for kids!!!

Cute story and pictures. My daughter and nephew are in the book stage so I’m buying them here and there so they can get the jist of story time! I love how you can afford these and they also have a huge collection! You can also write your child’s name in the front if you’d like!

I will admit, I haven’t actually read this book. I purchased it to give to my parents as a birth announcement for their first grandbaby. Their reaction was priceless!! I recommend using it for the same reason. And I’m sure it’s a good book too.

Love these stories. I am collecting these to read to my Grandkids as I did for my kids!

My 29 year old son grew up with little critter books and now my grandchildren are! Wonderful to start helping your child learn to read at home. Funny and relevant for small children and their adventures growing up!

Book arrived on time and as described.

A great Image of America, volume wonderful pictures of an area unknown to me! I very much enjoyed the book.thank you!

Love it!

This interesting book tells about the history of the U.S. Navy in the Puget Sound Region. Some of the interesting information that this book mentions is as follows: Miles of deep water inlets and sheltered shores, along with a supply of natural resources, made the Puget Sound region extremely valuable. The oldest navy warship to ever visit the Puget Sound was the USS Constitution which was built in Boston and launched in 1797. When the city of Tacoma ran out of power in the winter of 1929, civic leaders used the power-generating abilities of the USS Lexington. The ship supplied Tacoma with one-quarter of its electrical needs for about one month until rain filled local reservoirs. The 42 story Smith Tower Building in Seattle, WA was the tallest structure West of the MS River until 1931. The home city of the Puget Sound Navy Yard was Bremerton. The first commercial flights that departed from SEATAC airport departed in 1947. The USS Missouri was the site of the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay at the end of World War II. The ship was stored at Bremerton's Puget Sound Naval Shipyard from 1955 to 1986. Today, it is moored at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

My Grandpa, a retired Naval Captain, really enjoyed this book. Seeing pictures of places he worked and remembered gave him a kick.

Great book.

Americans in Waiting: The Lost Story of Immigration and Citizenship in the United States

Review

"An impressive overview of American immigration and citizenship law over the past 200 years."--Najia Aarim-Heriot, American Historical Review"Hiroshi Motomura's portrait of immigration history in the United States is as poignant as it is precise. Americans in Waiting emphasizes the need to treat lawful immigrants more inclusively, and welcome them as future citizens who will help revitalize the American Dream for future generations, as they have done throughout history."--U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy"Motomura provides an essential resource for those steeped in immigration law and history, as well as a revelatory read for anyone interested in how Americans can remain true to our historical willingness, as a nation of immigrants, to incorporate newcomers humanely and fairly."--Cristina Rodriguez, Michigan Law Review"A unique, original and insightful analysis of policies regarding immigrant rights, Americans in Waiting merits the attention of all serious students of immigrant incorporation."--Rodolfo O. de la Garza, author of Making Americans, Remaking America: Immigration and Immigrant Policy"Motomura elegantly weaves together the history and modern developments of immigration law and American conceptions of immigrants, making complex topics much more understandable. This is a timely book, and one that encourages us to think more deeply about the consequences of American citizenship policies."--Lucy Salyer, author of Laws Harsh as Tigers: Chinese Immigrants and the Shaping of Modern Immigration Law"With comprehensive historical sweep and theoretical insight, Americans in Waiting masterfully charts the way to more inclusive policies that are true to the United States' identity as a nation of immigrants and that promote a robust and cohesive notion of citizenship."--T. Alexander Aleinikoff, author of Semblances of Sovereignty: The Constitution, The State, and American Citizenship"Legal scholars and practitioners will find the book's attention to detail particularly useful. The author examines a strikingly wide range of immigration case law, much of which is not typically included in the corpus of social scientific literature on immigration law. ...Americans in Waiting is a valuable addition to contemporary discussions of immigration and citizenship, especially at a time when the rush to pass comprehensive immigration reform has all but crowded out reflections on the nature of American community."--The Law and Politics Book Review"Motomura displays a great deal of legal erudition and writes with flair. Nevertheless, his analysis is accessible to those not specialized in immigration law or law in general. This important and original book is of broad interdisciplinary interest."--The International History Review

This informative history of "Americans in Waiting" uncovers the lost story of harsh, often racist, laws that placed legal burdens on people living inside the United States. It's both a fascinating, lucid history and passionate plea for immigrants and refugees to be warmly welcomed into full citizenship. The author, Hiroshi Motomura, articulates a vision of immigration system that embraces "Americans in Waiting". Although written a decade ago, I found several chapters quite timely. It's also clear that America's immigration story has always been far more complicated than many immigration supporters and contemporary critics seem to believe. Detailed, exceptional, and provocative, Americans in Waiting challenges many myths and misconceptions about American Immigration laws. Read it to learn more!

Americans in Waiting blends a thorough analysis of the turbulent history of U.S. citizenship and immigration with a normative legal theory of what ought to be done. Motomuro, a leading immigration law scholar, evades overly obfuscating legal jargon in lieu of style that can be enjoyed by any reader from all degrees of background knowledge.Motomuro breaks legal immigration down into three views: immigration as contract, immigration as affiliation, and immigrants in transition, or what he otherwise terms as "Americans in Waiting." The third category is what Motomuro is most concerned with, hence the title of the book. Americans in Waiting are legal immigrants who are on a path to citizenship, but who have not or cannot naturalize yet (i.e: either they have not met the legal naturalization waiting period of 3-5 years for Legal Permanent Residents, administrative backlog, etc). While Motomuro argues that rights should be extended to this status of persons, such as voting, access to public benefits, and family reunification rights, he still believes there is reason for Americans in Waiting to remain a separate category from full-citizens. One categorical difference he believes should remain in tact is deportability for criminal acts. By recapturing key court cases, Motomuro traces the development of alienage law as we know it today and he also provides good reason for why his articulation is desirable for America and its future as a people.I have been studying U.S. immigration and citizenship quite thoroughly for about a year now, but it was not until reading this book that so many key terms and distinctions between different statuses became so coherent. Motomuro sheds much clarity and insight onto a highly complex and vital social and political issue. Excellent all around!

highly relevant to our time.

I had the privilege of hearing Hiroshi Motomura speak at Lewis & Clark Law School and immediately purchased his books. Highly recommended.

The textbook was interesting and was what I need for class
