This is a very good book to learn all about the process of shading. I purchased the kindle version and it looks great on my iPad. I find the book to be very helpful in order to understand how shading works. The author does a great job in covering important points when sketching and he goes into detail explaining what to look for when attempting to sketch an object from real life or photos. There are many illustrations demonstrating how and why shading works to bring an object to life, and the author offers tips and tricks to help you improve your sketching. I found that the book holds my interest, which is important for me because I get distracted easily. All in all, I like the book and would recommend it to anyone who loves art and needs a little help with their work. Very nice - glad I purchased it.
This book really does go step by step for shading. A quick read! Interesting and slightly humorous! I’ve only read the first two chapters but already learned a lot! Would recommend especially for newer artists! Most artist books are just to show off a professional ‘s work but don’t really teach anything, but this book teaches!!!!
Perfect for beginners - easy walk through and examples. Great for kids or adults - I got it for my 12 yr old who wanted to learn the shade. Other shading books had too many explanations and not enough visual examples.

Excellent book for the beginner. Easy to read & easy to do examples. Will give the beginner a basic understanding of the difference between shading & shadows.
This is an awesome book!!!! And I was NOT PAID TO GIVE A GOOD REVIEW! The steps are gradual and even a layman like me was able to understand. The analogies make total sense. Until this book I only sketched lines... but now I can finally add depth to my drawings. This is definitely a must for anyone who would like to take their art to the next level.
Good little book with clear, concise information. I liked the more advanced discussion that is often not touched in other books. Exercises good for skill building.
