We have her other book 'toot toot beep beep' and my toddler adores it. This one is just ok. The story makes less sense and, frankly, it's a bloody dump truck, not a 'tipper truck' seriously. Had I realised that she spends the whole book calling it a 'tipper' I would not have bought the book at all. My 3 year old just looks at me and says, eh, no, mum, it's a dump truck not a tipper.... I'm like, yes son, I know, I know. Downfalls of book buys on amazon. 3 stats though because the illustrations are cute and except for that small bit of stupidity, my son loves the book.
My 3.5 year old son loves this book. I really like how it goes through the different tenses of each vehicle (starts with, "With the digger we can dig dig dig", then later on it says, "So the digger digs a hole", then at the end it says, "We dug"). It has helped my son with the correct words (i.e. saying "dug" instead of "digged").
My son loves Tap Tap Bang Bang and this was another great book from the author. For anyone like me that has small boys (or girls) obsessed with tools and heavy equipment, these books are great. They keep his attention and are easy for him to replicate the sounds made in the book. I plan on adding more of the entries from this book series to our collection in the future.
I love this book! The author and illustrator are amazing! It’s worded well and flows easily off the younger when reading it to my kids. Before being a parent I never would have even thought about that, but it does make a huge difference. It is enjoyable for me to read it to my kids, not just tolerable.
I took the reviews seriously and went ahead and ordered this book. Both my babies, 19 months, now happily run to get "tip, tip" and when they see a road works vehicle, tell me if it is "push, push" or "miss, miss" (can't quite say Mix yet!) or whatever. They do love this simple repetitive little book. clever idea for language development in little ones.
Got this for my 4 year old son last year. His school library had this book but in a larger version. He loves looking through it and know how to read it already. Great book for pre-schoolers.
Purchased this as a gift and it was a hit! Very cute book and great to read aloud. Toddlers and preschoolers can engage and participate with the actions and words. The illustrations are bright and colorful and the text is easy to read and follow along. Fun and cute book for little ones who enjoy construction and building!
Love the pictures but can't get over the fact that they call the dump truck a "tipper truck" -- we edited ours with a sharpie but wouldn't have purchased the book if we would have seen it in a book store first and noticed. The story is cute though so if that won't bother you, the book would be a good purchase.
