About the Author
Ralph Kramer is the author of the critically acclaimed Indianapolis Motor Speedway: 100 Years of Racing. He grew up on a farm 50 miles from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and saw his first Indianapolis 500 race in 1950. Later, Kramer covered the race and the sideshow functions for The Indianapolis News for more than 10 years. As a public relations executive for General Motors, he negotiated Chevrolet's Indy 500 pace car presence and for years managed Chevy's public relations function at the track. After leaving GM, Kramer served as the director of the Speedway's Hall of Fame museum from 1995 to 1998. Kramer and his wife, Carol, live in Shelbyville, Indiana.

A great coffee-table book for Indy fans! Wonderful history through the ten decades of the track's first century with plenty of awesome pictures in each decade. I particularly enjoyed the section that listed the whereabouts of each of the past machines that have won the race.
Purchased this book as a Father's Day gift. My dad has really enjoyed reading it. He was at Indy several times in the 50s, and is a long time racing fan. Great photos and interesting reading to accompany them. I was really pleased to give him a gift that brought back such good memories.
My friend is 78 and does not miss a race that is on TV for the 40 years I have known him. He loves the book and reviews and studies parts everyday. No he is not senile just enjoys the changes over the years and is partial to MOPAR
If you love the Indy 500 like I do, buy this book. Great pictures and stories. I grew up in speedway, indiana, and know most there is to know about the greatest spectacle, but this book still takes me back to races of the past. I pull it out every once in a while and enjoy it.
This is a GREAT book for the money! Great pictures and lots of information on many cars, drives, and times! Technical information is good and some things in the book I have never seen and I have a lot of Indy 500 books! Well worth the investment, you won't be disappointed.

This is a superb book about the Indy 500. The one thing that set it apart from others for me is the part that attempts to account for all Indy 500 winning cars.
