I think I have a love hate relationship with this book. I have been eagerly waiting for it for months. It, undoubtedly, is a great collection of exercises, but that is it. The instructions for the stretches are ok, but not particularly detailed. My biggest issues are that there is nothing in the book tonshow you how to put them together and they dont show progressions or regressions. If you cant do that pose well, you just cant do it. I am really disappointed.
UPDATE 7/12/18: Got a bit farther into this book and I'm finding multiple 8 to 10 page sections that are repeated. So far pages 193-200 are repeated as well as pages 217-224. Pages 201-216 are nowhere to be found. Very disappointing that such a basic aspect of binding quality has been overlooked.I have mixed feelings about this book.There is no doubt it is comprehensive and it does show a wide range of stretches. However, it seems as though there are many that are duplicated between the different sections of the book. I would have preferred a book of 1,200 or even just 1,000 stretches without all the duplication.I would have also liked to see half-a-dozen programs that put a logical sequence of stretches together. That would increase the book's value immensely and give people a springboard for developing their own sequences of stretches.The basic quality of the book is very good. The printing is clear and crisp. The photos are well done and the models are attractive. From a graphic design point of view I'm not sure why their clothing had to be so drab. The paper is weighty and feels good in the hand.
Amazing book with every conceivable way to get flexible. I grew tired of downward dog and the repetition of yoga and truly love this book. Beautifully photographed and illustrated. Can’t beat it for the price.
The book does have a comprehensive listing of stretching exercises and other good information. I'll use it and I'm glad I got it. However. . .If a buyer is easily offended by suggestive crotch shots of women, then they might want to pass on this book. There are a number of such pictures here, and yes, while it is an exercise book, all of those pictures could have been done from the front or side--other angles--that would be less provocative. Interestingly, ONLY the women are presented with compromising crotch shots. None of the men are. Similar exercises demonstrated by men are all--100%--taken from a side or front angle. Someone needed to do better editing before releasing this book.
I had no idea how huge this book would be! It weighs about 3 lbs. it has every stretch you could ever do clearly laid out in a great format. Makes scanning simple and it’s easy to find the stretch needed for each body part. The example images are well done and this is a great book that I’ll probably use and refer to forever. Super solid buy.
This is a massive book on stretching! I never knew how inflexible I was until I received this book. My range of motion has significantly increased since I started incorporating stretching into my daily routine. I also attribute not needing lower back surgery to stretching and increasing my range of motion. Once I started stretching regulatory, my lower back pain decreased and pressure from a disc herniation on my sciatic nerve was relieved. Thank you Hollis for another great book!
I was excited for this book. It separates by: head and neck, shoulder, arm, back, chest, core, upper leg and lower leg.It lists stretches in abc order by name but just has instructions that you would find on the internet.The 1500 also include stretches w ball or other props which is why there are so many. (Quantity vs quality).I guess I was thinking I could turn to a section if I wanted to stretch a certain area and it would tell me why that stretch is benefitting that area (like if you had pain somewhere or wanted to work out a specific section; which ones produce best results etc).I sat for an hour and went through 25% of the book doing the stretches.I guess it would be nice to have some sets for certain areas.I included a pic from the book to help you get a better idea.So it's not one I'll be returning to often. But if I get bored one day, I'll go through some stretches.I guess I could've just used internet and googled shoulder, core stretches etc.I hate to be negative since books take a lot of time and effort; just wasn't what I was looking for.
I thought this book would tell you more specific about the area you are stretching (muscles) . Overall, I like the streches
