On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Colbert about once a week or so, like the good Catholic that he is, wishes to confess his sins. Well, these are not necessarily sins, but he does feel bad about them. The book is broken up into three sections: the ones he wrote, the ones that God wrote, and the ones submitted by those who watch the show.Here are some of his:I have violent thoughts when people use the terms "sci-fi" and "fantasy" interchangeably. "Oh, I love science fiction. I just read Lord of the Rings." I will end you.I update my iPhone software way more often than I call my sister.I have a fair amount of gay friends, but sometimes....I worry that I haven't made enough gay enemies.I have impure thoughts about the Land O'Lakes Butter Lady. But mostly about the butter.I wouldn't hurt a fly. But when it comes to mosquitoes, I am one sick some of a bitch.I haven't looked in my refrigerator's crisper since 1987. I can hear the brussels sprouts screaming.I have no skeletons in my closet. They're buried under the porch.One of the wise men in my Nativity scene broke, and instead of buying a new one, I replaced him with Lego Batman.Here are some sent it:I park my car between 2 trucks in the parking lot so drivers will think they found an open spot until the last moment.Sometimes I fake an orgasm so my roommates don't suspect I'm in my room scrapbooking.I've never told anyone this before, but I have no idea how plastic wrap works.Overall this is a hilarious book and one worth reading. I cannot recommend it enough.
If you've ever heard Stephen Colbert's Midnight Confessions on TV, then you know what this book is all about. (Please read it with Colbert's voice and timing in your head. It is riotous!) If you've never watched Stephen Colbert's Midnight Confessions, then you still should find this a very witty and funny read no matter what your religion.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I’ve been a fan of Stephen Colbert for many years so I might be a bit biased. I’m also a fan of The Late Show that he hosts on weeknights. I just wish there were more confessions in the book. It was a quick read. I particularly like the one about how he sneaks his own items into someone else’s garage sale, and runs. LOL😂
Love Colbert, and his Midnight Confessions skit, but this book is ... thin. There's ONE confession on each page, or sometimes just one confession spread across two pages, maybe 100 in the whole book. He could've put a LOT more in it -- but it still makes a nice guest bathroom book.
Great book, takes 5 minutes to read, so judge for yourself if it's worth it. I would have appreciated more of the same.
I love everything Stephen Colbert does, because he is Stephen Colbert, but it's literally a book of funny quotes and a very fast read. Buy it, read it once, put it on your bookshelf, and read it again when you've forgotten all of the contents.
Very disappointing after hearing his "confessions" on the TV show. I don't think I laughed once, although I did cracked a smile with some of the "confessions" here and there on this book. I love Steve and his show but this book it's a real dud! Sorry Steve...
Love the Confessions that Stephen Colbert does on his show from time to time. If you are like me, this book will allow you to enjoy them anytime in the future when you need them. If you don't get to see his confessions on the show, buy this book and then sit, read and enjoy! Remember, laughter is truly the best medicine.
