Bare minimum of information.If you are purchasing this with the code (not available on Amazon by the way) in order to do the labs, beware. There are lots of errors... Don't intend on relying on this book to help with the labs.Note that over half of the chapter 19 lab has you install, configure and test IIS which isn't even mentioned in Chapter 19 of the book. Disappointed, frustrated, and angry. Microsoft really ****ed up this one.
The book is light on information. The answer key for the study questions is not in the book and when I asked the company for them they asked for proof of purchase. Sure. No big deal. Provided that and they still haven't gotten back to me, just figure I will go away. They are right, I will also never buy a Wiley published book again.
The rental price and period was great (when compared to Barnes and Nobles') but the condition of the book was a disappointment: several folded / dog-eared pages, Damaged book spine (at the bottom) and the first 6 pages are torn and coming loose from the binding of the book.The back cover had some damage also; probably from a knife or other sharp object used to removed it from a previous shipping box / container or envelope.70-410 Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012 R2 (Microsoft Official Academic Course)
I needed this book for a college course, even though Server 2016 has been out for a few years already. It has lots of picture in color, and looks really nice. This book spends a lot of time walking through procedures step by step, but not much time on explaining things otherwise. My instructor did not explain much either, so maybe watching some YouTube videos along with reading this book will help you learn what is needed.
I did not use this much to pass the 410. I mostly used CBT nuggets and Trainsignal/Pluralsight. And a lot of labbing. I really didn't read this book much at all so I cannot really comment to the quality of the book. I skimmed through it and it seemed ok. It's an official book so I will give credit where it's due
This is a pretty dry and awful book. I had it for my server class in college and it isn't worth the price that you pay. A decent amount of the information that comes in it is wrong. It only gives bare minimums. Seems like Microsoft just tried to skate by giving the bare minimums with this one.
Using this as a text for "Advanced Server Security" course at Eastern Kentucky University. First three lessons have been good - questions at the end of lessons have been challenging, but I have zero server admin experience. Seems well written, but has some bizarre typo's that I would have thought Microsoft spell checker would have caught.
It's more like reading a work manual. It was hard to get into the book. One of the worst books I ever read.
